Meath based company Hexafly, has won the gold award in the Agritech Startup category at the National Startup Awards powered by Bank of Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. Hexafly develops new material sources from the sustainable farming of insects for the aqua feed, chitin and plant nutrition industries. The Awards took place on Thursday, 17 May at the Mansion House in Dublin.

Other successful companies in the Agritech category included ApisProtect who scooped silver – they create in-hive sensors to unobtrusively monitor honey bee colonies . Equine MediRecord, who have created the first centralised database system that is accessible to private yards, vets and regulators globally in any agricultural sector, won the bronze award.

The competition recognises innovative, successful and aspirational Irish startup companies who have launched their businesses in the last five years. This year, awards were presented to deserving winners across 13 categories including tech, retail, product and tourism with gold, silver and bronze winners being awarded in each category.
