Sanctuary Synthetics won the award for SMEs with 6-20 employees. Speaking about the award to Growtrade.ie, Mark O’Loughlin, owner of Sanctuary Synthetics said that: “It was great to get validation from one’s peers, by the business community, who judge the awards.

“It was an affirmation, we had several staff members who went along on the night and when we won I immediately texted all of the crew saying it was a win for all of us and it really is, you don’t grow without having a great team around; winning the award was certainly a confirmation of that. It was a nice boost to moral.”

The Kildare Business Awards show wasn’t the only reason for Sanctuary Synthetics to celebrate last Friday as several of their past and present trade customers had also won awards at the Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland (ALCI) 2017 awards.

Speaking on what it meant to see his customers succeed, O’Loughlin said: “We like to think that we provide our customers with quality products. It is up to them to use them creatively and I think a lot of our customers have succeeded in that.

“There were photos shown by the judges and they certainly showed the efficacy of the artificial grass as part of the projects. One of our customers, Saxa Landscape who won the Bog Oak Trophy, did a rooftop corporate garden in Dublin City and with the engineering requirements of the project; our artificial grass was a perfect product for such a scenario.

“I always say you can have a growing garden – without having to spend time looking after your lawn, you can spend more time on your perennials, shrubs, flowers and bulbs.” he concluded.

Looking ahead to the future O’Loughlin said: Thanks to the moral boost from receiving the Kildare Business SME of the year award we would be bold enough and ambitious enough to enter the national competitions. We recently submitted another garden for bloom 2018 so fingers crossed that goes well.”

Saxa Landscapes, Castleview Landscapes, Outside Options, Greenstone Landscapes, Brackley Landscape Services, and Donnybrook Landscape Co, were all winners at the ALCI awards that used products from Sanctuary Synthetics.
