The Irish Hardy Nursery Stock Association (IHNSA) is a commodity sector within the horticultural section of the IFA and is the representative body of nursery stock producers whose main objective is to advance and protect the interests of primary producers of hardy nursery stock.

Founded with the aim of promoting and advancing the interests of its members, IHNSA serves as a unified voice for the nursery stock industry.

It operates through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and advocacy to support the growth and development of its members and the horticultural sector as a whole. A member of the European Nursery Stock Association (ENA), IHNSA provides insight into the state of play of the Irish nursery sector in Europe.

As a representative body, IHNSA advocates for the interests of its members and the broader horticultural industry. The association liaises with government agencies, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to ensure that the concerns and needs of nursery stock producers and suppliers are considered in relevant policies, regulations, and legislation.

IHNSA actively engages in discussions on topics such as plant health, biosecurity, sustainability, and market access, playing a vital role in shaping the future of the Irish horticultural sector.

One of the most recent initiatives of the IHNSA is the promotion of more green spaces in our cities and using native Irish plants.

The IHNSA in conjunction with Bord Bia has joined together with 12 other European countries in the EU co-financed ‘More Green Cities for Europe’ promotional campaign. Ireland is committed to making cities more future proof through the creation of green space and the use of ornamental plants.
