For Spring Fair’s 2020 Gift of the Year awards, Squelch Wellies won the Judge’s Choice Award for their innovative iteration of the classic Wellington boot for children.
Squelch Wellies combine two key components to create their Wellington boot experience: the boot itself – a typical Wellington boot style made of see-through materials – and colourful, designed socks.
The combination of see-through wellies and colourful socks provides children with the ability to mix and match styles and have fun when getting into the garden.
Currently there are approximately 30 different styles of socks including special edition socks for Christmas and Halloween.
The Wellington boots sell for £16 and the socks sell for £3.50 per pair. Three pairs of socks form the “Sock Box” and sell for £10. Consumers can combine the the boots and Sock Box for £24. As of now the socks are available in some retailers in Ireland.
Squelch Wellies also look to make environmentally conscious choices in the production and distribution of their product.
“Our welly boots arrive in a 100% cotton drawstring bag, replacing the wasteful shoebox. The tags on our socks are all made from recycled paper. Our colouring-in product comes in the small squelch bag. When a child grows out of their welly boot that’s not the end of the boot’s life. We encourage handing down, and our gender-neutral sole makes this even more possible.”, said Amanda Wooldridge, of Squelch Wellies.
The Squelch Wellies offer consumers a fun way to get children involved in gardening and for retailers who are looking to drive families into their stores, Squelch Wellies could provide them the opportunity to do just that. See Squelch Wellies for more.
