Here is one such opportunity to work for an award-winning horticulture and design company based in Caragh, Co. Kildare.

Caragh Nurseries is looking for a creative and enthusiastic landscape/ garden designer to join its design team. The successful applicant will support the nursery’s head designer on a range of projects with a focus on planting schemes and plant led projects. The role will concentrate on the design and build/ plant of creative residential and commercial landscape projects as part of a large-scale production nursery.

Role and responsibilities

  • Supporting the design team in carrying out design duties through the whole design process; from initial sales leads assisting in the consultation process, surveys and soil analyses, creating plans, design boards and 3-D drawings
  • Assisting the design team with its increased volume of landscape design work
  • Pursuing sales leads for garden design work and undertaking design led queries on the nursery
  • Working with the marketing team on the company brand image using effective literature, marketing and branding
  • Assisting in the placement and planting of the garden, and ensuring quality and fulfilment of projects
  • Assisting with project-specific administration

The successful candidate will have:

  • A qualification in garden design or experience in a garden or landscape design position
  • Full clean driving license
  • Excellent working knowledge of CAD and any other landscape design drawing packages.
  • Preferably also have good hand drawing skills
  • Good plant knowledge
  • Enthusiastic and keen to learn
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Independent worker and good team player
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good communicator – both written and verbal with a creative flair

Salary is dependent on experience, with Caragh Nurseries naming the guide salary of €35,000 – €40,000.

While the position is and will be based just outside Naas, Co. Kildare, due to the current restrictions the role could initially be a home-based position with mentoring and meetings via an online platform.
