As part of a major new strategic move, ICL has appointed Brendan Howell to the new role of sales development manager for professional horticulture across Ireland.

“Previously Bord na Móna’s national account manager for professional growing media in the UK and Ireland, Brendan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of the Irish market to this new role,” says Stephen Squires, vice president – ICL regional business lead. “His appointment is part of a strategic move that sees ICL offer its full range of professional horticulture product solutions to professional growers in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

“Extending our current UK Professional Horticulture model, this includes the launch of ICL’s Levington Advance growing media range across Ireland,” said Squires. “Brendan will play a key role helping growers to transition away from peat with our peat-reduced Levington Advance Solutions and peat-free Levington Advance Sustain ranges – which include ICL’s professional woodfibre based product Fibagro Advance.”

Alongside the Levington Advance growing media range, ICL is offering its full portfolio of industry-leading controlled release and soluble fertilisers, wetting agents, plant protection products and biostimulants.

Commenting on his appointment, Howell said: “I look forward to working directly with growers and distributor partners to help them meet the challenges that lie ahead in the Professional grower market.  ICL has invested heavily in developing peat-free alternatives and the associated nutrition and wetting agent technologies to enable growers to continue to produce high quality plants. At a time when the Irish industry must reduce its reliance on peat, ICL has the products as well as the experience and expertise already gained working with UK growers.”

Howell will be assisted by Andrew Wilson (ICL fertilizers and plant protection products technical manager for the UK and Ireland) and Dr Eleni Siasou (ICL product and development manager for growing media).
