21 July 2022

The Garden Landscape and Amenity Sportsturf (GLAS) trade show returns today after a three-year hiatus. Proudly supported by Bord Bia, the event will run from 9am to 5pm at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin.

The horticulture industry has withstood many shocks since GLAS 2019. Between Covid-19, Brexit, the banning of commercial peat harvesting, and rising input costs, disruptive events have created immense challenges for members of the sector, while also providing opportunities for growth.

Despite the challenges, the horticulture industry is defined by the dedicated professionals who evolve with the times to meet the demands of our dynamic industry.

With so much change afoot, it has never been more vital for GLAS to bring the key decision makers in the garden, landscape, and amenity sportsturf sectors together at our trade-only event. Here’s what to expect from today’s show:

Bord Bia

As the headline sponsor of GLAS, Bord Bia will be on hand to showcase the latest insight reports for the amenity sector. The Thinking House is the repository of all Bord Bia research and it is where insight and innovation activities are centred and is open to all Irish producers. The Bord Bia stand will also showcase all the latest promotional activities being undertaken for the amenity horticulture sector, including Let’s Grow and East Steps to Dream Gardens. Visit the Bord Bia stand today to get a flavour of what they have to offer.

Free seminars

At 11am & 2pm ICL will be hosting a free seminar on stand D3/D4 discussing how to reduce peat within growing media, without compromising on the quality of plants.

ICL will be looking at the different make up of growing media, the nutrition required and how wetting agents play an even more important role throughout the growing season. Taking place at the ICL stand D3/D4, arrive early as limited space is available.

Sportsturf and Machinery

Along with its core focus on amenity horticulture, GLAS 2022 will continue its expansion into sports surfaces, grounds maintenance and related industries, connecting visiting sportsturf and parkland professionals with leading suppliers and specialists in the sector.

Careers Hub

Hosted by Teagasc, the focus of the Careers Hub will be on the value of upskilling those currently working in the industry. As well as the role final year students, graduates and alumni can play in your organisation.

Best in Show Awards

Brand new for GLAS 2022 is the Supplier of the Year Award. Held in association with Growtrade.ie, the Supplier of the Year award-winner will be chosen by members of the industry and crowned today.

This new award category joins the highly anticipated New Product New Plant showcase and Best in Show Awards, which will also be crowned by our esteemed judging panel during today’s event. The GLAS 2022 Best New Plant, Best New Product winners will be announced during the show.

GLAS is for practitioners in the horticulture, garden retail, sportsturf, grounds maintenance and related industries. Admission is free by registration at the door. The show kicks off at 9am, with free parking at the National Basketball Arena.
