The Irish Landscape Institute fosters and promotes excellence in the practice and understanding of landscape architecture in Ireland. The Institute promotes competence in the related professions of landscape architecture, management and planning.
The Institute fosters a culture of continuing professional development and research in landscape issues. Activities of the Institute are dedicated to supporting these objectives, which aim to promote the highest standards of landscape work in Ireland.
Promotion
- Increasing public awareness and education on landscape issues
- Educating the public about the role of landscape professionals
- Issuing public statements and policy documents on relevant landscape issues
- Promoting interaction between landscape professionals and related disciplines like architecture, engineering, planning, ecology, cultural heritage, and biodiversity
- Reviewing and commenting on relevant national and regional documents
- Representing the landscape profession in Ireland at European and international levels
Competency
- Supporting higher education for landscape professionals in Ireland
- Upholding national professional standards through candidate examinations
- Facilitating Continued Professional Development for Institute members
- Organising relevant lectures, conferences, and discussions
- Maintaining an updated Institute website and e-bulletin for scheduling lectures and exhibitions
- Producing articles and publications on landscape architecture, management, and planning
- Commissioning research on landscape-related issues in Ireland
- Advocating professionalism through the Code of Professional Conduct
