The Kildare Growers, together with Mediateam and BordBia, are once again delighted to welcome visitors to the GLAS trade show 2024.

Located in the National Basketball Arena Tallaght, this is the Horticultural trade show for all things amenity in Ireland.

Since the show’s inception by The Kildare Growers, GLAS has gone on to represent the best of Irish amenity horticulture offering visitors a one stop shop for trading and business lead development.

GLAS 2023 saw a record number of visitors to the venue and its expanded outdoor and indoor areas meant visitors were presented with more choice than ever to sample what suppliers and growers can offer within the island of Ireland.

GLAS 2024 again aims to build upon last years success with the outdoor area featuring the new Grower’s Paddock, Machinery Park and more exhibits, displays and demos. Bord Bia’s Thinking House and Learning Center offers attendees the opportunity to witness the beating heart of learning and development within our industry and to discover the trends and innovations that will help drive business opportunities into 2024 and beyond.

Since last year’s show our industry has gone from strength to strength and has exhibited a potential for growth and professionalism that has been building for a generation. The past twelve months have seen investments within the garden centre industry that is placing our amenity retail space as one of the most modern and innovative in Europe.

Building on success

Our growers have continued to build upon the work of previous years with significant steps forward in sustainability and climate resiliency. The Kildare Growers are entering an era of acute public awareness of climate sensitivity and our plant producers have been positioning themselves to become climate champions in this space. Our products and our know-how are continuing the restoration of nature corridors in our countryside and the greening of our towns and villages.

The amenity industry in Ireland is now a thriving multi-generational industry where youth, innovation and creativity are positioning Irish horticulturalists as sector leaders.

This has recently been recognised with the establishment of the QQI validated Horticultural Apprenticeship Programme co-ordinated and run by Teagasc. This is a new pathway for talent development and an opportunity for growers, landscapers and garden centre workers to nurture and develop tomorrow’s business leaders.

Perhaps at no time has the future looked so encouraging for the amenity sector in Ireland. GLAS represents this optimism through its stands, its corridors, its people and its learning opportunities. On behalf of Doran Nurseries, L&K Dunne Nurseries, Rentes Plants, Schram Plants and Woodstock Trees & Shrubs and The Kildare Growers wish to thank you for visiting GLAS 2024 and wish you a prosperous and joyful trading year ahead.
