The Spring Trolley Fair 2025, hosted by the Irish Hardy Nursery Stock Association and supported by Bord Bia, took place on Tuesday, 4 February 2025, at White Agri, Ballough, Lusk, Co. Dublin.
This free-to-attend, trade-only event was an essential date in the calendar, with more than 140 visitors on the day.
As the marketplace event signals the beginning of the Irish nursery season, the Spring Trolley Fair provided buyers with an exclusive opportunity to meet growers, explore a wide variety of plants, and discover new introductions for the year ahead.
With exhibitors showcasing their latest selections, the trolley fair remained a key event for businesses looking to stay ahead in the industry.
Commenting on this year’s event, Carol Marks, sector manager horticulture, Bord Bia, said: “We are very pleased with this year’s Spring Trolley Fair, which was well attended by the garden retail trade.
“It was great to see regular visitors, along with a large number of first-time visitors combining a visit to the Spring Trolley Fair on their way back from UK gift fairs. Exhibitors were pleased with the quantity and the quality of visitors and spirits were high at the close of business.”
Marks noted that this was an important event in the horticulture calendar, kicking off the spring season for the growers and the garden centre buyers.
Marks noted: “It provides an opportunity for the growers to showcase their quality products to a large number of buyers in one day and in one location.”
Val Farrell, chairman of IHNSA, described this year’s event as a “great success.” He highlighted that 15 different nurseries participated, showcasing a diverse range of products.
One product that particularly caught Farrell’s attention was the one-litre plants, as many buyers are seeking affordable options in bulk.
In an exit poll conducted on the day, Farrell found that most of the exhibiting nurseries reported positive results from the event.
