The New Plant New Product Awards are a highlight of the GLAS trade show. These awards recognise the best new plant and new product launched in the market over the last 12 months by the organisations exhibiting at the event.

Judging begins at 9am, with the winners of this year’s New Product New Plant Awards – including Best in Show Trade Supplier, Best in Show Horticulture and Supplier of the Year – all revealed at a special presentation at 12.30pm.

New Plant entries

Ball Colegrave
Alstroemeria Inticancha® Liliana produces elegant, long lasting big flowers for borders, and container plantings. It has a compact, tidy growth habit and flowers continuously through summer with good repeat blooming. Highly resistant to pests and diseases. Superb garden plant.

Rentes Plants
Flower Carpet Rose Hoopla is a new, compact ground-cover rose with masses of rosy-pink semi-double blooms, glossy healthy foliage and strong disease resistance, flowering from early summer to frost. Ideal for borders, pots and mass planting.

Hydrangea paniculata Mount Fuji – Brings big panicle impact to smaller spaces: huge upright white blooms on a compact, strong-stemmed plant. Long-lasting flowers age into soft autumn tones, giving pots and borders a clean, high-impact look without needing much room.

Named after Sophia Rentes, the eldest of the third generation of the Rentes clan in Ireland, this exciting new variety was discovered on our nursery in north Co. Kildare over 15 years ago as a simple one branch mutation. Now after 15 years of breeding, we are proud to release this exceptional new plant. Escallonia Sophia is variegated with bright green on green foliage with a striking pink flower. This also shows excellent resistance to Escallonia leaf disease, is cold hardy and drought tolerant.

GLAS is a trade only event for practitioners in the horticulture, garden retail, sportsturf, grounds maintenance and related industries. The annual trade show takes place at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin on Thursday 16 July – open from 9am to 5pm.
