A Cork landscape gardener Shane Murphy won a prestigious international award for his garden design.

Murphy, of Lavender Landscapes based in Ovens, Co Cork, was the outstanding category winner for the International Garden prize by Pro Landscaper.

The garden was named best International Garden Under £35,000 at the ceremony at FutureScape in London. Nine category winners were announced at the awards which took place in London last month.

The award-winning garden was designed to evolve with the changing needs of a growing family.

Richard McKenna, managing director of awards partner Provender Nurseries, says: “Provender Nurseries is delighted to sponsor Pro Landscaper’s small project Big Impact Awards this year. It is an excellent opportunity for companies that often work under the £35k threshold to highlight and celebrate their work in these prestigious awards.

“We feel that raising the profile of this size of project is important to both established and new, upcoming businesses in the landscape, design and horticultural industry as a whole.”

This year’s awards were judged by expert witness Gareth Wilson, Mark Draper of Graduate Gardeners, garden designer Helen Elks-Smith, Liz Hughes of Provender Nurseries, Lewis Normand of Bernhard’s Nurseries, James Scott of The Garden Company, Alistair Bayford of Maylim, Brian Herbert of Outdoor Options, and Pro Landscaper’s Lisa Wilkinson.
