As the annual Garden Landscape and Amenity Sportsturf (GLAS) trade show set for 20 July quickly approaches, more than 70 exhibitors across the trade await the one-day event at the National Basketball Arena.

GLAS is a prime opportunity for members of the trade to network in a marketplace, as 95% of visitors deemed GLAS 2022 “worthwhile” or “very worthwhile,” while 90% of exhibitors felt similarly.

Each year at GLAS, leading organisations are recognised through a series of awards. Our most recent winners were chosen by judges, Anna Kavanagh, an independent horticultural consultant, and Westlake Horticulture’s James Spillane.

Firstly, Rentes Plants’ Buddleia “Butterfly Candy” range received the crown for Best New Plant due to its floriferous qualities and its appeal to pollinators. The variety of colouring stood out to the judges as the plant was available in five colours, red, pink, white, purple, and blue.

Best New Product was given to Reesink Turfcare Ireland for its Farmtrac FT25G electric tractor. This compact tractor emphasised sustainability, utility along with being overall quieter than tractors in the market.

In its inaugural year, the Supplier of the Year award supported by Growtrade.ie recognised the leading supplier by fellow industry members. Young Nurseries was crowned this title in 2022 due to its new methods of growing with mitigating chemicals.

Additionally, exhibitor stands are recognised in two categories, Best Trade Stand and Best Horticulture Stand. The Flower Gro Team, Best Trade Stand winner, fashioned a Flower Gro Peat Free Multi-Purpose Compost stand and Best Horticulture Stand was highlighted by Tully Nurseries.

“I love putting the stand together. I really wanted this one to be fun and full of colour,” said Niamh Tully of Tully Nurseries. “Our stand has everything from information about bees, to balloons new plants we have for next year and I think it came together really well.”

The free trade only event is held 20 July at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. Make sure to pre-register online and for more information regarding exhibiting email: eamonnmaguire@mediateam.ie.
