The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has introduced a new scheme to drive innovation and diversification in the horticulture industry.

This scheme offers funding for fundamental studies, experimental development, and feasibility assessments related to primary horticulture production, including the management of waste like spent mushroom substrate.

The grant is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in primary horticulture. It supports studies needed to innovate and diversify, whether for public benefit or commercial advantage.

Applications should be submitted online by midnight on Friday, 23 August 2024.

The application must be made by the primary producer, with the option to partner with Research Institutions or other entities. Supporting documentation may be needed to verify the SME status.

Funding rates vary based on the type of study and collaboration involved.

Detailed information on the grant aid rates is available in the Scheme Terms & Conditions.
