The deadline for the 2024 Scheme of Investment Aid for the development of the Commercial Horticulture Sector has been pushed back. Originally scheduled to close on 15 December, the deadline is now 10 January at 5 pm.

According to the Irish Examiner, the scheme provides up to 40% funding for approved investments for existing and new horticulture producers, and eligible young farmers can receive up to 50% grant aid.

The €10 million scheme aims to help the horticulture sector by funding capital investments in special equipment and adopting technology. 

Minister of State Pippa Hackett highlighted that this year would be ‘particularly challenging’ for growers, with high input costs and adverse weather conditions affecting their incomes.
