The Pesticide Registration and Control Division (PRCD) at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) will host the 2020 Biocide Symposium in the Shared Facilities Building, DAFM Backweston Laboratory Complex, Celbridge, County Kildare, on Thursday, March 12, from 9.30am to 1.30pm.

The aim of the symposium is to facilitate a forum for discussion and to provide information on areas such as:

  • The Biocidal Products Regulation.
  • The notification process for biocidal products.
  • The transition for notified product status to authorised product status.
  • The impact of Brexit.

This is a free event which is open to all and will be of special interest to those placing biocidal products on the Irish market. According to the PRCD programme for the event, the event is targeted at companies selling, or intending on selling, biocidal products in the future and who are at the early stages of the process.

Those who want information on how to improve their applications to speed up the notification process; the next steps after notification to keep your product on the market; the impact of Brexit to Biocides; Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and Prior Informed Consent (PIC) regulations, should attend.

After lunch, there will be an opportunity for companies to book a 10-minute appointment to talk directly to PRCD staff on a range of issues. To book an appointment slot, contact PRCD on Biocides@agriculture.gov.ie.

You can view the programme for the event here. If interested in attending, be sure to register here.
