Three European horticulture events to put innovation, plants and trade in focus

Greenitaly, GrootGroenPlus and Iberflora will bring growers, suppliers and horticultural professionals together across Europe

The European horticultural calendar will be particularly busy this autumn with three major trade events taking place within a short period – GrootGroenPlus in the Netherlands, Iberflora in Spain and Greenitaly in Italy.

The three events will provide opportunities for horticultural professionals to discover new plant material, production technology and services, while also creating opportunities for international trade and networking.

For Irish growers, garden centres, landscapers and horticultural businesses, the events offer a snapshot of some of the developments taking place across the wider European ornamental horticulture and green sectors.

GrootGroenPlus

GrootGroenPlus, the international nursery stock trade fair will be taking place in Zundert in the Netherlands from 30 September to 2 October 2026.

Now in its 36th edition, the event will bring together 285 participants, including nurseries, dealers, machinery and equipment manufacturers, subcontractors and other suppliers to the nursery stock industry.

The exhibition has a strong focus on trees and nursery stock and is aimed at a broad professional audience, including garden centres, landscapers, architects, public green professionals, retailers, tree nurseries and international traders.

The organisers say visitors and exhibitors will attend from markets including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Poland, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the US and several other countries.

For Irish horticultural businesses, the international visitor base provides an opportunity to make connections with European growers and suppliers while keeping up with developments in nursery production.

The event will also provide an opportunity to view new plant material and developments in machinery, equipment and production systems.

Iberflora

Just days after GrootGroenPlus closes, attention moves to Spain for the 55th edition of Iberflora, which takes place at Feria Valencia from 6–8 October 2026.

Iberflora describes itself as a European meeting point for the green sector, bringing together nurseries and plant producers alongside businesses involved in landscaping, technology, gardening and garden retail.

The event covers a broad range of the horticultural supply chain, from plants and flowers to technology and products for gardens and green spaces.

The 2026 edition will also feature a substantial programme of professional talks, technical sessions, demonstrations, networking and innovation awards.

Among the subjects on the programme are plant health, urban green management, climate adaptation, digitalisation, artificial intelligence and the production of plants.

Plant health will be particularly relevant for growers and landscape professionals, with the VI Forum on Plant Bioprotection addressing the prevention and control of pests and diseases and the challenges associated with protecting vegetation in urban environments.

Iberflora will also coincide with Eurobrico, the International DIY Fair. The organisers expect the two events to create additional opportunities for businesses operating across the garden, green, DIY and retail sectors.

The 2025 edition attracted more than 350 exhibiting brands and over 29,999 square metres of exhibition space, according to Iberflora.

Greenitaly

Running almost simultaneously with Iberflora, Greenitaly will take place at Fiere di Parma from 7–9 October 2026.

The International Exhibition of Horticulture and Landscape is divided across three main areas: nursery gardening and horticulture; technologies and technical products; and landscape and urban green.

The horticultural section will showcase plants and flowers, including nursery stock, bonsai, bulbs, tubers and rhizomes, while the technology section covers products and services supporting the wider production supply chain.

Greenitaly is also placing a strong emphasis on international trade. The organisers have an incoming programme involving more than 200 selected international buyers, creating opportunities for exhibitors to connect with potential customers from overseas markets.

The event’s conference programme will cover subjects including research and innovation in floriculture and nursery production, urban landscape, green spaces and afforestation.

For growers, the combination of plant production, technology and professional knowledge makes Greenitaly relevant to businesses looking at new approaches to production, sustainability and the development of the wider green sector.

Three events, different opportunities

While the three exhibitions share a common focus on horticulture and the wider green economy, each has a slightly different emphasis.

GrootGroenPlus is particularly focused on nursery stock, trees, plant material and the production supply chain.

Iberflora provides a broader platform covering plants and flowers, landscaping, technology, gardening, garden retail and urban green, alongside an extensive professional programme.

Greenitaly combines horticulture and nursery production with technology, landscape and urban green, while placing considerable emphasis on international business connections.

Together, the three events demonstrate the breadth of the European horticultural sector – from plant breeding and nursery production through to technology, plant health, garden retail, landscaping and urban green.
