Garden centre experience – Springmount Garden Centre
This garden centre experience, in association with Bord Bia, takes an inside look at garden centres around Ireland.
22 November 2017
Springmount Garden Centre, located just 4 miles soutside of Gorey on the old Wexford main road, was established in the mid- seventies by Ella Warren, a keen gardener and floral artist.
From a small hut where Ella enjoyed doing her cuttings, she grew the business concentrating on summer bedding, shrubs and perennials. In 1999 Ella left the business to her daughter, Elaine Warren who, with the help of a dedicated team and her brother Richard, has continued to expand Spring mount Garden Centre into a perfect venue for plant lovers.
As well as a great range to choose from, there are many unusual plants, lots of which are specially sourced from abroad as well as from smaller nurseries in Ireland.
A special focus is made on finding new stock and new varieties of old favourites. Springmount’s store offers a great selection of gifts, toys, books and clothing as well as all the usual necessities and plenty of quirky additions to customers’ gardens.
The Greenhouse Café serves delicious, freshly-made savoury meals and offers plenty for the sweet-toothed too. Exhibitions, creative classes, horticultural demonstrations and special events take place regularly throughout the year, “a passionate team of helpful and knowledgeable staff is always on hand to make a visit to Springmount a pleasant and memorable experience, said Elaine.
