Teagasc webinar to discuss wood fibre and growing media

Join Teagasc on 17 June at 7.30pm for a webinar reviewing wood fibre use in professional horticultural growing media.
During the event, Dr Brian Jackson, North Carolina State university, will discuss the different sources of wood fibre and impacts on growth of bedding, perennials and woody plants. Dr Jackson has been researching wood fibre use in growing media for over a decade and is very familiar with the Irish media sector.
As the sector moves towards growing media with lower peat and higher wood fibre this is a great opportunity to see how the US market has adapted to the new materials without loss of plant quality.
The supply of growing media in Ireland has become highly volatile and this has had an impact on greater supply in Europe. The webinar will provide an opportunity to delve into the production of one of the components in current and future professional growing media mixes.
