Since its founding, the Irish Landscape Institute has been committed to raising standards of landscape design in Ireland and to pioneering new approaches to environmental planning. The ILI Landscape Awards give recognition to exemplary landscape projects, and celebrate the contribution of landscape architects to the public good.

This year, a superb collection of projects was entered across eight categories, demonstrating the scope and skills of Irish Landscape Institute members within a range of practice sectors.

Two new categories were launched this year: the ILI PEOPLE’s CHOICE Award, and the Diane Nickels Memorial Award for Hand drawing. This latter award was launched in honour of Diane Nickels, who passed away seven years ago. Nickels was the first female president of the ILI and was renowned as a highly skilled sketch artist. According to the ILI “This award is to recognise, promote and celebrate one of the landscape architect’s key skills – the use of drawing, by hand, as a means to communicate, develop and articulate design ideas.”
