The Garden Landscape and Amenity Sportsturf (GLAS) Trade Show will return to Citywest events centre and hotel in Saggart, County Dublin, on July 16 from 9am to 5pm.

The one-day GLAS trade show, proudly supported by Bord Bia, is Ireland’s premiere trade event, bringing together over 150 leading exhibitors in the nursery, product, and service sectors, as well as over 1,000 attendees.

Registration for visitors is now open, free, and is available only to the trade at glasireland.ie.

Trade professionals looking to exhibit at the show should contact the team via email: eamonnmaguire@mediateam.ie or via tel: +353-(0)1-2947765.

The Learning Theatre

On July 16, attendees will be able to attend world-class presentations in the Learning Theatre.

The Learning Theatre will provide the very latest in research, analysis, and expert opinion on key issues facing the sector such as plastics and packaging, a key challenge with today’s environmentally-focused consumer; change and opportunity in horticulture; consumer lifestyle trends; and integrated pest management challenges for the sportsturf sector, to name just a few.

This accessibility to industry information and knowledge alone makes GLAS a must-attend event.

New Product New Plant Awards

Of course, the Learning Theatre won’t just feature expert presentations, the New Product New Plant (NPNP) and Best in Show presentations will take place at 10.30am.

The NPNP awards showcase the latest products and plant varieties hitting the market in 2020.

In 2019, the judging panel consisting of Gerry Daly, editor of The Irish Garden Magazine, and Rachel Doyle, managing director of Arboretum, declared Delphinium “Highlander Flamenco”, by Schram Plants, as winner of the Best New Plant Award; and JF McKenna as winner of the Best New Product Award for the Modiform recyclable Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) containers.

Doran’s Nurseries and Lemonfield Pottery were awarded Best in Show Horticulture stand and Best in Show Trade Supplier stand respectively.

“We are delighted and thrilled to have been awarded ‘Best New Product’ at GLAS 2019 and to be supplying 100% recycled pack and pot ranges from Modiform into the Irish market in 2019/2020. As a manufacturing company based in Armagh producing packaging for the horticultural and mushroom industries, we understand the importance of providing products to the market that are made from 100% recycled materials. The marketplace has become more demanding in the quest to reduce our carbon footprint and to enable the end user to easily recycle their post-consumer plastics using kerbside collection boxes.”, said Gary Loughran of JF McKenna upon winning Best New Product at GLAS 2019.

Speaking on winning Best New Plant at GLAS 2019, Tim Schram of Schram Plants said: “[We are] delighted to have a great garden plant recognised on its merits and fantastic double flower colour.”

On GLAS he said: “It is a great showcase for suppliers to show off product to potential buyers in the industry. For visitors it’s a one-stop-shop to network within the industry.”

Continuing innovation

Introduced in 2019 and continuing for GLAS 2020 will be the Careers Hub and The Landscape Show.

The Careers Hub brought together exhibitors and attendees with final-year students, graduates, and alumni of the leading educational institutions in Ireland, providing for an informal networking opportunity for all.

The Careers Hub also highlighted the value of up-skilling to those currently working in the industry.

The Landscape Show, a show-within-a-show, brought together all of the expertise from the landscaping sector – supported by the Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland (ALCI), the Irish Landscape Institute (ILI), and the Garden and Landscape Designers Association (GLDA), who were also on-hand to meet new and existing members.

The Landscape Show featured exhibits from the leading suppliers and provided informative talks in the Learning Theatre.

Bord Bia

Supporters of GLAS, Bord Bia will be showcasing at GLAS 2020 at their state-of-the-art Thinking House pavilion.

The Thinking House gives Ireland’s horticulture industry unrestricted access to the latest global trends, research, consumer insights, and industry innovations.

The creative space includes a “Trends Zone” to highlight the latest innovations from around the world, and a “Packaging and Branding” gallery to promote best in class design and to showcase Bord Bia’s recent work with Irish producers.

The “Living Room” and its adjacent viewing room, allows Bord Bia to conduct qualitative focus and discussion groups, while the library presents invaluable access to a wide range of databases and reports that would heretofore have been financially prohibitive to source for many small to medium-sized companies working in the industry.

Bord Bia’s Insight and Innovation services are open to all Irish producers and is a major asset to attendees and exhibitors alike.

Retail Merchandising Showcase

The GLAS 2020 Retail Merchandising Showcase, in association with Shop Equipment Limited, will show off the best from the retail merchandising world.

Shop Equipment Limited experts on-hand at GLAS 2020 will be able to provide attendees with invaluable information and guidance in beginning a retail merchandising campaign.

Attendees will also be able to check out the very latest in Point-Of-Sale and merchandising displays systems available on the market and make use of the free advice clinic.

Sportsturf Village and Machinery Park

Along with its core focus on amenity horticulture, GLAS 2020 will continue its expansion into sports surfaces, grounds maintenance, and related industries.

The Irish Institute of Sports Surfaces Sportsturf Village is an established feature of the trade event and will connect suppliers and specialists in this sector to a targeted list of invited sportsturf and parkland professionals.

Attendees will also be free to inspect the latest machinery on the market for 2020.

Visit glasireland.ie and mark July 16 in your calendar. Registration for visitors is now open, free, and is available only to the trade.

Trade professionals looking to exhibit at the show should contact the team via email: eamonnmaguire@mediateam.ie or via tel: +353-(0)1-2947765.

The theme of GLAS 2020 is “Your industry. Your event.”, be sure to attend and make it just that.
