Spanish Plants started trading in the UK in 2006 and in the same year took its´ first stand at Four Oaks Trade Show. Spain was relatively unknown at that time and the Italian nurseries had a strong hold on the market. Coincidentally in the same year Four Oaks Nurseries was looking for partners to expand the range of products it had on offer in the cash and carry to provide a one stop shop in the area. This was a perfect opportunity to showcase the products that were available from Spain.

From the first open day at the cash and carry it was obvious that there was good demand in the UK for Spanish product. Soon after, the business grew both locally and nationally and bit by bit people became interested enough to take the time to visit Spain and see the quality of the production for themselves.

Direct deliveries became so important that Spanish Plants relocated to Spain in 2012 and started to supply everything direct from there. Working with its core suppliers it provides a broad range of plants including, palms, olives, shrubs, trees, climbers, bamboos, exotics, succulents, and citrus and fruit trees.

The move allowed it to better service the needs of its direct customers by being readily available to monitor quality and production, select and tag plants, and oversee logistics. It also meant it was more easily able to reach out to other nurseries where customers had specific sourcing or project requirements that cannot be met by its nursery group.

Owned by Pete Squires and Nuria Gonzalez, Spanish Plants is interested in developing the market in Ireland and is looking to find contacts there that can help them with this.

As Spanish Plants is not able to exhibit at GLAS, the nearest alternative for potential customers to see what it can offer will be the Four Oaks Trade Show on 5, 6 September.

This year will be the 18th time Spanish Plants has exhibited, and it would like to invite anyone that is interested to come and meet the team on stand OP37 and OP38. It would also be happy to accompany anyone wishing to take a trip to see them in Spain so get in touch if this is relevant to you.

The focus of Spanish Plants has always been on building strong relationships with its customers and providing them with the best service we possibly can.
