Description: The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has issued a tender for conservation work focused on Rhododendron ponticum control and peatland restoration across Cloghernagore Bog and Glenveagh National Park SAC, and Fawnboy Bog/Lough Nacung SAC. The project involves surveying, mapping, and treating around 400 hectares of Rhododendron infestation using stem and stump treatment methods only, in line with best practice. Contractors must have QQI Level 5 herbicide application certification and experience in environmentally sensitive site work. The goal is to restore blanket bog and heathland habitats currently in poor ecological condition by reducing invasive species coverage to below 1%.
