This month’s exciting landscape tenders
The office of Government Procurement's website is designed to be a central facility for all public sector contracting authorities to advertise procurement opportunities and award notices.
27 September 2017
Public sector opportunities can range from new county council car parks to developing the new national children’s hospital. Here are two tenders that could be an exciting opportunity for registered landscape businesses.
1. Architect/Landscape Architect Lead Design Team for Playpark in Rossmore Forest Park, Monaghan.
Monaghan County Council invites tenders under the open procedure for a design team to provide designs for a Playpark in Rossmore Forest Park, Co Monaghan.
The play park should be of a sufficient size and diversity to appeal to a wide range of age groups from toddler to early teens. Timber play equipment is a requirement as this is a Forest Park.
The equipment should preferably be bespoke in design and suited to a woodland location. As a regional draw, a ‘signature’ play piece would be desirable.
The Design Team shall consist of suitably qualified personnel who must have experience in the following areas:
(1) Playground design
(2) Landscape Architecture
(3) Quantity Surveying
(4) Civil/Structural Engineering
It is envisaged that initially the successful Design Team will bring the project element to Planning Permission grant approved stage. At this point, the designs and performance specifications will be tendered to contractor(s) through an EU restricted procurement procedure which will also be overseen and managed by the Design Team. Contract supervision will also be required.

2. Landscape Master Plan for the Dublin Enterprise Zone (Design and Project Management)
The Dublin Enterprise Zone (DEZ) has become a national economic asset and one of the main drivers of the Dublin Region economy. Home to over 800 businesses, many of whom operate on a global scale, the DEZ is now regarded as a proven, world class location, not only for businesses that wish to come to Ireland to set up operations, but also for Irish businesses wishing to scale up and grow into other international markets.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) account for many of the largest employers in the Zone including a considerable cluster in technology: IBM, Symanatec, Facebook and Paypal, and life sciences: Westpharma, Bristol Myers Squib, Alexion and Mallinckrodt.
The Dez is located in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, seven kilometres northwest of the city centre, within the administrative area of Fingal County Council.
The location of the DEZ, on the edge of Dublin City allows easy access to 1.2 million consumers, and numerous suppliers. It is in no small part due to the significant investment which has taken place in hard and soft infrastructure by Fingal County Council, IDA Ireland, and the private sector over the last 20 years.
Fingal County council seeks to appoint a landscape architect to develop a landscape design masterplan for specific public realm areas within the DEZ. In addition to the development of the design scheme, the preferred tenderer will prepare tender documents, procure and manage the first phase of the project which include specified roundabouts and sections of road in line with the masterplan developed.
The DEZ consists of a multiplicity of different business occupying different sizes of buildings with different types of architecture. As the result the DEZ does not have a strong sense of place, which the council is now creating, through the development of the brand identity for the DEZ.
