This month’s Try Horticulture virtual event will focus on the Level 7 BSc in Horticulture that is run jointly between the Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture and Waterford institute of Technology (WIT).

The Level 7 three-year course combines earth sciences with practical and commercial horticulture along with the business of horticulture. It covers six semesters across the three years and also includes work experience that may be done in Ireland or abroad.

The course was designed for those looking for a qualification that encompasses working in the wide outdoors with the expertise of science and business management. It covers science-based subjects like plant science, soil science and land chemistry in year one. In year two, students can choose to diversify into major elective areas like landscaping, nursery stock production, turf grass or food production, while in year three they get to look at modules in business like marketing and people management.

Interested parties can attend the virtual event on 30 April at 12:30. College staff will be on hand to describe the course options in detail and talk about how the course will be run in 2021.

To register, visit: bit.ly/BotanicCollegeEvents or visit https://www.teagasc.ie/education/ for more course information.
