 Best in Show Awards

Best New Plant, Best New Product, Best in Show Trade Supplier, and Best in Show Horticulture awards will all return looking to celebrate the very best in the industry today. Changes have been made to incorporate the Best in Show Awards winners directly into the main entrance, so everyone who attends the event will first be greeted by the GLAS 2018 successful winners’ plant and product – proudly showcasing them to the entire trade sector.

In 2017 Hygeia won Best New Product for their Green Force – Lawn Care product. “These trade shows and in particular GLAS, are a really nice way to get exposure to retailers that we want to reach; independent garden centres would be a really important sector for us to reach and we can do that here.” said Elisha Daniels marketing manager with Hygeia Garden Care, following Hygeia’s win at GLAS 2017.

In 2017 Kelly’s Nursery won Best New Plant for their Escallonia Laevis, Angela Slevin, sales and marketing manager with Kelly’s Nursery spoke to us at the time about what the GLAS event means to their nursery and their plans for the future.

“It is fantastic [to be at GLAS] It is great to get out and meet everybody in the industry, having a meet and greet and catching up with so many people I know from the industry is great, altogether it is a great day and there is a great buzz about the place.

Retail Merchandising Showcase

The Retail Merchandising Showcase, in association with the experts at Shop Equipment Ltd (SEL), showcased point-of-sale offerings in a specially promoted area to garden centre and retail buyers.

Quality retail merchandising is essential to drive strong growth in sales and profit margins. Investing in quality Point-of-Purchase (P-O-P) and Point-of-Sale (P-O-S) merchandising display equipment as a brand owner and retailer can lead to an increase in interaction from consumers and ultimately sales.

You can have the best P-O-P in the world with the best offer in the store, but if it is located at the back of the store with low traffic flow, next to the toilets, you’ll only get a great response from the incontinent. Be sure to be on top of your P-O-P and P-O-S merchandising equipment at our 2018 Retail Merchandising Showcase and secure otherwise lost sales.

The Learning Theatre

In 2017 a key feature of the GLAS trade show was The Learning Theatre. Proudly supported by Bord Bia, the learning theatre saw five industry leading professionals present lectures on a wide range of horticulture, trade specific topics.

In 2018, there will be two Learning Theatres at GLAS following on from the tremendous success of the Learning Theatre in 2017.

Sportsturf  Village & Machinery Park

The Irish Institute of Sports Surfaces Sportsturf Village – a now established feature of the event – will once again connect suppliers and specialists in this sector to a targeted list of invited sportsturf and parkland professionals.
