At Growtrade, we highlight public procurement opportunities from around Ireland that would be suitable to landscapers, growers, turfgrass professionals, horticulturalists, and forestry professionals.
Here is one such tender for rhododendron clearance at Connemara National Park, Letterfrack, Co. Galway.
Description: The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage invites tenders to this request for tenders (RFT) for rhododendron clearance at Connemara National Park in an area of c105 ha in total over six Lots and the retreatment of previously cleared areas as a single Lot (c201 ha). CNP lies immediately southeast of the village of Letterfrack, Co. Galway. It covers approximately 2000 ha. The park consists of mountain habitats, woodlands, and rivers. Rhododendron ponticum significantly prevents woodland regeneration resulting in a poor age structure of the native woodlands within the park and engulfs open mountain habitat as an invasive species. Since 2021, Connemara National Park has been undertaking an ambitious Rhododendron ponticum control programme with up to 201 ha cleared to date.
